Every year on 30 September, language professionals around the world are celebrating a very special day for them and for the entire language service industry ─ when we all celebrate the International Translation Day.

Decided by the United Nations, it’s the day when we express our recognition and appreciation of the great role that translators have always been playing to connect nations, peoples and cultures.

The Splendor of Native Languages

This year, the theme is different and special: “Indigenous Languages”.

The theme is chosen in recognition of how important it is for millions of indigenous people around the world to have their languages preserved.

According to the United Nations, indigenous speakers constitute about 6% of the world’s population. They speak more than 4,000 of the world’s languages. It’s expected that half of these languages will be extinct by 2100. So, with languages disappearing every year at a threatening rate, millions of original languages need to be protected and conserved.

Brief Look at the International Translation Day

In 1991 the International Federation of Translators (FIT) launched the idea of an officially recognized International Translation Day to show the solidarity of the international translation community in an effort to promote the translation profession in different countries.

In response to FIT’s effort, the United Nations General Assembly passed in 2017 a resolution declaring September 30 as the International Translation Day, an act to recognize the role of professional translation in connecting nations.

At Future Trans, we celebrate International Translation Day every year ─ with our employees, translators, linguists and subject matter experts (whom we call our talents), with our suppliers and with our clients.

So, within the celebrations of this year, we’re pleased to offer 10% off on all translation projects that we receive until 5 Oct. 2019. Contact us today to benefit from our special offer.
