St Jerome’s Day, which is commonly known as International Translation Day, is celebrated on 30 September every year.
International Translation Day is celebrated every year on 30th September on the feast of St. Jerome, the Bible translator who is considered as the patron saint of translators. The celebrations have been promoted by the International Federation of Translators ever since it was established in 1953.
St Jerome’s Day celebrations have been encouraged and promoted by the FIT Council and Executive Committee in an ad hoc fashion. It was not until 1991 that the Public Relations Committee of FIT launched the idea of an International Translation Day. The international translation day is considered an opportunity to display pride in a profession that is becoming increasingly essential in the era of progressing globalization.
Happy International Translation Day
