Client: Major Heavy Machinery producer
Project type: Translation and DTP
Source Language: English
Target Language: Arabic
Project Volume: over 1 million words and 4000 pages

Challenge:
We received a huge amount of PDF files that had to be translated in a tight deadline (2 months). In addition, we could not push the project through our normal translation cycle because the majority of files were comma separated values; *.csv. so we could not convert them to doc. files as usual in order to use Trados in translation.
Translating this big amount of CSVs leaves no room to make use of words repetitions option and consumes a lot of time in translation. In addition, we had to create the layout from scratch for more than 3000 pages in limited time.

Our Solution:
A simple and fast solution we though about, which was to convert the CSVs to excel files *.XSL, so we can easily push the files through our standard translation cycle and benefit from words matches. Also, Our localization engineers developed a macro to read and convert the translated XSLs to CSVs and import the files into the DTP application which was Adobe Indesign, so we avoided creating the layout from scratch.
The schedule was cut in a dramatic way and we impressed the client by delivering the project before the deadline in high quality .
